The Art of Saving a Life
For most of 2014, I had the great pleasure of working with nearly 40 artists who were invited to contribute to The Art of Saving a Life, a global arts project commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It's so exciting to see these incredible artworks - including films, music, sculpture, painting, photography and literature - unveiled on www.artofsavingalife.com. The artists, including Annie Leibovitz, Lang Lang, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Yiyun Li, Mary Ellen Mark, Luc Jacquet and so many more have put their heart and soul into their work for the project. Together, they are showing how vaccines have changed, and will continue to change the course of history.

The beautiful illustration depicting the DR Congo above is by Caldecott-medal winning illustrator and writer, Sophie Blackall. Her series of four illustrations are another favourite of mine.
